Considering that decent gaming computer rigs start at $1,000, I see it as reasonable to get a nice $400 4K display for it, rather than some random low-end 1080p monitor. So, while 1080p is much cheaper than these offers, they are not that expensive either. This baby, for example, is just $400, extremely cheap if you take into account that just a couple of years ago mortals couldn't buy any kind of 4K at all:ġ440p are cheaper, but not significantly so: Not all of us are drowning in enough money.4K monitors today are really cheap. Sleeping dogs with AA on normal runs at mostly 60 FPS with dips here and there.Īlso this is worth noting, the extra resolution isnt the only factor thats hitting the gpu harder, its also the extra FOV so more on screen rendering so never look at things just with 20% more pixels, its also a certain % extra FOV on screen rendering that takes place as well.

Tomb raider with shadow on normal and resolution on high and most settings on max, all details on full except ingame AA, I stay at 60 FPS mostly, shadows kill things for me more then anything for some odd reason. Shadow warrior pretty much maxed stays at 60 most of the time but does dip to around 45 FPS. WOW has pretty much no issues and I run with a 3570 K clocked at 4.3 GHZ and a single 780.įF14, now in 8 man stuff, and bare in mind this is a more demanding game gpu wise, I've dropped to around 40 FPS, but I dont think thats vram, thats more gpu horsepower. I currently have a 2560x1080 monitor, but I have down sampled some games from 3440x1440.

I might come back later with more input from him. I linked him this thread, we'll see what he has to say. =/ I'd personally LOVE to test that out myself, though I will say, a friend of mine runs a single 980 onto an LG monitor of 3440x1440 and as I recall, a single 980 is weaker than 780 SLI. It's hard to really say though, since your question is very precise and only very very very few select people can test it out. Maybe you'll find you don't need absolutely maxed out graphics, such as AA at super high resolutions doesn't help as much. See how low or high you can have graphics at and retain at or near 60 fps. I'd say get the two 780s and if you can, also get the 3440x1440 monitor and see how playable games are. If you can return things without a hiccup, then there's no point in not trying it out. Two 780s is still a mega amount of horsepower, so I would say maybe try it for yourself. If you want to crank up all of the settings, then yes, it'll be rough, however I think 3GB VRAM will go a good distance.

Well, the regular 1440 is actually 2560x1440 but what you want, being 3440x1440 is obviously a bit more demanding.
